From what I could gather, your government may be a shitstorm at the moment, but thank God that doesn't stop the heritage thing.
I won't let such a silly thing like the collapse of the German Government stop me from my full-time job of reblogging posts on a failing social media site.
#not a heritage post#ask#also. as things currently are they don't affect me at all#or any citizen really#we're gonna have new elections in spring#and depending on how that goes I will either post the image of Layton celebrating with a party popper#or post the image of Layton dead on the ground

i don't have any specific coherent thoughts about it but people have wondered why henry of all people would choose to have a casino and racetrack (let's go gambling!) in the city he made for randall but to me it's very thematically fitting. randall's motto was "no risk, no glory" after all
#melonposting#professor layton#like i don't have an in-character reason for why henry would fund such establishments in particular#but like... randall is the chaos to henry/angela/hershel's order#i find the masks to be incredibly symbolic#monte d'or is certainly very chaotic! and nothing says chaos like games of chance#of course it makes sense in-universe too why gambling establishments would spring up#at least at first the majority of people flocking to the area were those seeking a fortune from the money henry offered for the search#so the city simultaneously wouldn't exist without henry's selflessness nor the people's greed#not to malign all of monte d'or but y'know. dalston mentions it being kind of money-grubbing and debauched

❝ Phantom Night ★ Strikes Again !
Phantom Thief!Yoriko Furusawa x Fem!Reader
Phantom Night struck out once again, and you didn't even take a picture of it. Now if you don't get a picture of her next time, you will be fired!
But, at night, when you go to a near by coffee shop, a stranger oddly offers help.
Word count: 1375
꒰☕ — AU based on Yoriko's and Miyako's unit, Detective Versus. Yoriko is a Phantom Thief and you are a journalist. Mentions of Miyako and Kate (who are detectives) and Sanae (who is a cop) also Fuka is mentioned;
꒰🔎 — Neither Miyako's nor Yoriko's ages are mentioned. I imagined them a little bit older, but it's funny to imagine a 16 year old trying to stop a 17 year old to rob the museum… So, if it sounds funnier to you, then, do as you please!;
꒰☕ — PSDs: Aurora by @/radioexe & Paint The Roses Red by @/devotionne – Divider credit;
“The Phantom Night appeared at the city's Museum of Fine Arts, and planned to steal the Great Ruby Jewel that was being exhibited that day. Fortunately, Great Detective Miyako and her partner Detective Kate managed to stop her from doing so by piecing together the clues Phantom Night left in her letter. The Chief of the Police Department, Sanae Katagiri, confirms that the Great Ruby Jewel is now safely in the museum's vault, and that he is making sure that nothing else has been stolen.
‘It’s a miracle the detectives arrived in time,’ says the officer.”
The TV turns off. Your boss simply turns the chair for you and the small group of people that was in her office, not making any effort to hide her mad expression from her face.
“So, you are telling me,” she begins, calmly, “Phantom Night got to bypass the security of the Museum of Fine Arts, got chased by Great Detective Miyako, escaped, and NONE OF YOU TOOK ANY PHOTOS OF IT!?”
As soon as her voice rose, you all shrank back into your chairs. It wasn't uncommon for your Boss to get mad, but raising her voice was enough for everyone in the building to feel afraid. You and the group of people in your room were all photographers for the town paper—or at least, you hoped you still were, since missing a news story from it would probably mean resignation for all of you.
“If none of you can get a single picture the next time Phantom Night strikes, YOU'RE ALL OUT!” Everyone nodded quietly. “Now, leave my office!”
Everyone quickly left the room, afraid of another scream from the Boss, including you.
Phantom Night struck out once again, and you didn't even take a picture of it. You can't be blamed, actually – it is really hard to keep up with the Great Detective Miyako. Both her and Detective Kate are always on investigation, trying to solve the great mystery of who's Phantom Night and what does she really want to accomplish with all that thievery. Is she just a spoiled rich woman? Does she steal from the rich to give to the poor? Who knows!
But, honestly, even if you knew the answer to this question, if you don't have a photo to accompany this article, you would probably still be fired. You're a photographer, after all…
The question of where Phantom Night will strike next is always uncertain. Not even the police know it most of the time, so it's usually the Detective Duo's job to investigate and stop her before it's too late.
For you or any of your colleagues to know the places, you'd have to either follow the detectives around or try to piece the clues together yourselves… And none of you had time for the last one.
You sigh. Unless you try to run pretty fast next time to catch a decent enough picture, you should start looking for other jobs.
After your shift, as the sun was setting, you decided to stop by a nearby coffee shop. Oftentimes you and your colleagues would eat there on the lunch breaks, but today you decided to go alone.
It was already night when your order arrived at your table. You, sitting at one of the tables outside the café, looked at the few stars that could be seen in the city sky, praying silently that you could take a picture good enough to not get fired. Hell, even a little bit of the detective's intelligence would be enough! A single clue, a tiny hint, anything! You were willing to accept anyth—
“Um… Excuse me…” A gentle voice asked, taking your attention, “may I sit with you? It seems like every other chair is taken in this Cafe…”
You look around, noticing how quickly that coffee shop filled up.
“Sure.”
“Oh, thank you ma’am… You're very kind.”
The woman not only places her cup of coffee on the table, but also a sketch book, a pencil and an eraser, before finally sitting down. She quickly opens her notebook, fixes her glasses and finally starts drawing in it, occasionally taking sips from her cup. You can't help but admire her work as she makes it, almost forgetting about your own cup.
“You're sketching scenarios from the city?” you ask the moment you recognize the place on one of her drawings.
“Oh? You have… An amazing eye, ma'am.”
“And you have an amazing skill right there, miss!”
She giggles at your compliment; a laugher so soft and sweet to hear, you couldn't help but smile too.
“But, ah… Ma'am, may I ask you a question?” you nod before she continues. “Before seeing you smile, I couldn’t help but notice the frown on your face… Is the coffee that bad?”
“Just thinking about work, nothing much…”
“A pain shared is a pain halved… What hunts your thoughts so much?”
You put your coffee down on the saucer and sigh before answering. “Is just that… If I don’t take a good photo by the next Phantom Night appearance, I will probably get fired…”
The young woman seemed deep in thought for a while, before ripping a page of her own notebook and writing something in it; she quickly stood up, handing you the note before saying, “you won’t have to worry about that!”
You pick the note to read — it was the address of the National Literature Museum that was located in the city alongside with a date and a time. Before you could ask what that meant, the young woman had already disappeared, and you were left alone with your thoughts.
You have nothing to lose, really. Except for your job, but you had convinced yourself that one is long lost already. Days have passed, and you never encountered the woman again – that note was probably a way to encounter her again, right? Maybe she set up a job interview for you? Well, maybe then you wouldn't have to worry about your job anymore!
Though, it is weird if she would work at the National Literature Museum, given the… Very little you knew about her.
Nonetheless, You still arrived at the place, a little before the time written on the note, even. Unsurprisingly, ths National Literature Museum was closed.
Shit, you curse to yourself. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to come here at all. Especially so late at night… Ugh! How stupid.
Before you could turn around and go back, you see a figure emerging from the ceiling of the museum. The silhouette begins to take shape… Familiar, arguably, to everyone in the city. It was…
“PHANTOM NIGHT!” Suddenly, you hear the voice of Chief Sanae on the megaphone. “Surrender now, and give back the original copy of Fuka Asano's famous novel!”
Lights finally illuminate the figure, showing that it was who you thought it was. The Phantom Night doesn't answer, though; in fact, you get the slight impression that she is posing, using the lights as a spotlight – worse, it looks like she is posing in YOUR direction.
Before you could even think of a single question for her actions, you quickly take your camera and take some pictures of the scene. You just COULDN'T lose your job, after all.
The scene that unfolded next is a sequence of events familiar to the entire town: The Great Detective Duo Miyako and Kate appear, they race after Phantom Night with the police right behind them, and if the Phantom Night could really steal the original copy of the novel of if the Great Detective Duo can get it off her hands… Well, that you will probably know by the end of the night.
As you were looking through your photos, however, you find the Phantom Night oddly familiar. As if… She looked just like the girl you encountered in the café days before.
You can't help but smile to yourself, and suddenly there's a small, faint wish for you to meet with her again.

do you like puzzle solving games?
Yes, I like them (especially if there's some kind of plot in them and it's not like, only puzzles)
#I've actually managed to buy 3 of the professor layton games last spring (used of course)#'curious village' for 5£. 'lost future' for 8£ and 'Pandoras box' for 8£ if i remember correctly#which is like 25€ (pretty cheap compared to the ebay prices + shipping) so that was nice#again I didn't have time to play them (these games don't have summer vibes aka the time where I actually have free time to play them#but I do plan to play then in the near(?) future#ask#anonymous#not art#text#if you have any recommendations I'd be happy to hear them (although I don't know if I'll be able to play them soon)#I still like them if it's only puzzles btw because then it's a more mindless fun but I don't really consider it a 'game' if that makes sense

im having so many LMJ thoughts again just. it fucking floors me how level5 tripped into a storyline about cycles not of abuse, but of neglect, and a fear of becoming like those who left you behind, and then LMJ bombed so bad we will never know if it was intentional or a fluke
